Cued to the run of show, not to the crowd's patience

DJ, sound and lighting

Sound is the one vendor category where the failure is audible to every guest simultaneously. The two commonest Tamil wedding sound failures are both schedule problems, not equipment problems: a dead gap where the nadaswaram ends and the DJ has not been cued, and a reception set pitched at a dance-floor crowd that has not arrived yet.

In short

Inai Event Management provides wedding DJs, sound systems and lighting across Tamil Nadu — reception and sangeet sets, couple-entry effects, dance floors, and the handover from the traditional nadaswaram and thavil ensemble into an amplified set without a silent gap.

Sound is specified to the room rather than to a package tier: a 300-guest hotel ballroom, a 1,200-guest mahal and an open-air ECR lawn need three different rigs. Every Inai DJ booking includes a site check or venue spec review, a music brief covering Tamil film, Hindi, Western and Carnatic requirements, and a written do-not-play list.

Scope

What a booking includes

Everything below is in scope by default. You remove what you do not need and the quote moves — rather than discovering an exclusion after the contract.

Wedding DJ & Sound in Chennai →

  • Wedding DJ for reception, sangeet, mehendi and after-party
  • Sound system specified to the room — hotel ballroom, mahal, kalyana mandapam or open lawn
  • Stage, ambient and dance-floor lighting; uplighting and pin-spots for the stage
  • Couple entry: track build, timing and effects — cold sparklers, CO2, low fog where permitted
  • Nadaswaram and thavil ensemble booking, with a cued handover into the amplified set
  • Live band, dhol, chenda melam and drum-circle add-ons
  • LED wall, projector and screening support, including same-day-edit playback
  • Music brief across Tamil film, Hindi, Western, Malayalam, Telugu and Carnatic
  • Written do-not-play list, honoured
  • Wireless microphones for the emcee, purohit and felicitation speeches
  • Venue sound-limit and cut-off-time compliance checked before the contract, not on the night

The gap

Why this usually goes wrong

What usually happens

A DJ is booked on price, arrives with a rig sized for a different room, and takes the reception request list from whichever cousin reaches the console first. The couple entry is announced before the track is loaded. Nobody has read the venue's 22:00 sound cut-off clause.

What Inai does

The rig is specified from the venue's actual dimensions and sound limits. Entry cues are rehearsed against the emcee's run of show. The do-not-play list is in the contract, and the venue's cut-off time is built into the set plan from the start.

Answers

Wedding DJ & Sound — your questions

How much does a wedding DJ cost in Chennai?

DJ cost depends on room size, rig specification, lighting scope, the number of functions and whether effects or a live ensemble are included. Inai quotes after a venue spec review rather than from a rate card. Call +91 98849 60870 with your venue and guest count.

Can you handle the nadaswaram to DJ handover?

Yes, and it is one of the details we insist on planning. The nadaswaram and thavil ensemble finishing and the amplified set beginning is a cue, not a coincidence — we book both or coordinate with your existing ensemble so the room never falls silent.

What sound system do we need for a 1,000-guest mahal?

A large kalyana mandapam needs distributed coverage rather than a single stacked front-of-house, or the back third of the hall hears delay and the front row is uncomfortable. We specify from the room's dimensions, ceiling height and seating plan after a site check.

Do you provide couple entry effects?

Yes — cold sparklers, CO2 jets, low fog, confetti and follow-spot entries, subject to the venue's permission and fire clearance. We confirm what the venue actually allows before it goes into your quote.

Will you play a mix of Tamil, Hindi and Western music?

Yes. The music brief is agreed in advance and the set is built around your guest list rather than the DJ's preference. A reception with a large older Tamil contingent early and a younger crowd after dinner is programmed in two halves.

Can we give you a do-not-play list?

Yes, and it is written into the contract. It is honoured regardless of who requests otherwise at the console on the night.

Do you cover venue sound restrictions and cut-off times?

We check the venue's sound limit and cut-off time before contracting and plan the set to finish inside it. Residential-area mahals and several Chennai hotels enforce these strictly.

Do you supply microphones for the ceremony and speeches?

Yes — wireless handhelds and lapels for the emcee, purohit, felicitation speakers and the couple, with spares on site.

We come back with questions before we come back with a number. That is usually the point at which families realise the quote is going to match the wedding.
